The Club
Current Facilities.
To complement the 18-hole golf course the Club has a modern clubhouse
with full bar and catering facilities. The bar and restaurant are open
daily except on Mondays. A wide range of hot and cold food is generally
available throughout the day except during the winter period when a
more restricted facility is on offer. Sample menus are available from
the catering manageress. In addition, the club house boasts a
well-stocked shop which has a wide range of golf equipment and
leisurewear.
The Course. The
golf course has evolved over 100 years and its natural contours and the
absence of bunkers give it a special character which is seldom repeated
elsewhere. The initial impression may be that the course is wide-open
but after a few holes it is evident that the St Andrews factor
applies and that positional play is very important. The numerous humps
and hollows around the greens test the golfers ability to play a
variety of shots - often in difficult conditions. Recent course
modifications have been carried out in concert with the National Trust
(who are responsible for the commons) with the primary aim of making
the course safer to the general public and in particular, some greens
close to the main roads have been relocated. details of course and card

Fees - Casual and Society. The
Club welcomes vistors, either for a casual game, or as members of a
society. Green fees for visitors (playing without a member) are 15 per
day during the week and 18 per day at weekends and Bank Holidays
(there are discounts if playing with a member). The rate for Juniors
(under 18) is 5 per day during the week and 6 per day at weekends. A
booking sheet is held for golf on Saturdays. Tee-times are available to
visitors from 9.30 am. Societies are most welcome on weekdays, although
reservations should be made as far in advance of the proposed date as
possible. Most society packages are individually tailored to the
customers requirements and are very competitive in price. Food can
also be arranged to meet specific dietary requirements.
